WINE, FOOD AND CULTURE - 11 DAYS AND 10 NIGHTS
1ST DAY - Arrival. Welcome to Sicily! Arrival and private transfer to the hotel in Taormina or on Mt. Etna.
2ND DAY - A very special day to discover Etna wines and Sicilian savors
Barone di Villagrande winery will give you a special welcome on the terrace with view over the vineyards and over the Bay of Catania. Then visit Taormina, "Pearl of Sicily" where you can admire the wonderful Greek Theatre and enjoy a walk in the main street.
3RD DAY - A day to discover the highest active volcano of Europe. Departure by jeep to Mt. Etna to experience a private tour by 4x4 through ancient volcanic flows and amazing landscapes, characterized by chestnut trees, oak trees and brooms! At lunch you will be at Murgo winery where you can relax walking through the vineyards and tasting a good glass of Murgo Brut.
4TH DAY - Today you will enjoy a special cooking class close to Mt Etna. Monica Consoli will guide you through a unique experience learning how to cook the most traditional dishes of the centuries-old Sicilian cookery. Then we drive to Siracusa town to discover Sicilian roots, you will enjoy the Greek Heritage of Sicily through a tour of the archeological park and Ortigia island.
5TH DAY - A day to discover the magnificent baroque architecture and DOCG wine smells. Visit two excellent wineries that produce the famous Cerasuolo di Vittoria (unique DOCG in Sicily) welcomed by Giovanni experience the ancient techniques of wine between ancient "torchi" and basins, before enjoying the wine tasting surrounded by the old barrels.
In the afternoon, guided tour of Ragusa Ibla, UNESCO World Heritage town, with its wonderful Baroque monuments and astonishing unique corners will surprise your eyes. Exclusive: visit to the local handcraft "bottega" of Sicilian carts, and private visit of a noble palace.
6TH DAY - A very special day to discover more Baroque corners and to appreciate our olive oil tradition. Visit of Modica town, UNESCO World Heritage, called the town of 100 churches. But Modica is also the "the town of chocolate", the only place in Italy where they still make chocolate in Aztec tradition. Chocolate experience at Dolceria Bonajuto, the oldest chocolate factory in Sicily.
The tour continues to the exclusive MARILINA winery, famous for its bio vegan wines, where the owner, Federica, will introduce you the winery and will lead the wine tasting with food pairing.
Then enjoy your afternoon in Marzamemi an enchanting little fishing village.
7TH DAY - Discover Feudi del Pisciotto winery, that welcomes you in its wonderful manor house that dates back to the 18th century.
Here you can visit the largest "Palmento" of Sicily. Then departure to Piazza Armerina for the visit of the "Villa Romana del Casale", that with its mosaics is the greatest witness of Roman art in Sicily.
8TH DAY - Today you discover Sicilian roots and the excellence of wine.
Enjoy the majestic Greek architecture that survives through the centuries in this magic place: the wonderful Valley of Greek Temples.
At lunch you are at the awarded Planeta winery, one of the best wineries of Sicily. The company has vineyards and estates all over Sicily. Excellent is also the olive oil, that gained many awards and that will be tasted with the wines with food pairing.
09TH DAY - This morning you will visit the Tenuta Gorghi Tondi winery where Annamaria and Clara Sala are proud to carry on a tradition of winemakers since four generations with attention to environmental heritage.
Then departure to Erice, the most important medieval town of Sicily that stands on the top of San Giuliano Mount. But the road towards Erice is characterized by the "Salt Pans", that, introduced during mediaeval times, offer a truly unique landscape.
During the tour in Erice a special tasting experience at Maria Grammatica's pastry shop to taste the typical Sicilian pastries.
10TH DAY - Today you explore Palermo a city rich in history, culture, art, music and food. Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque churches, palaces and buildings: it's worth to visit "Palazzo dei Normanni" with the "Cappella Palatina". A walk through the lively stalls of the food market will be a nice experience to discover the Sicilian street food, the colors and the smells of an ancient town rich in history.
